In a |floppy disk drive|, the spindle motor turns a spindle pulley. A belt around the pulley is also wound around the spindle. When the spindle motor turns the pulley, the belt translates the rotation to the spindle. This spins the |recording disk| allowing access to the data by the |read/write head|.
